$32.01 – $40.88 per hour with benefits
A new, full-time employee hired as a Police Officer after the adoption of this policy and before June 30, 2023 will be eligible to receive a hiring bonus of $7,000.
The Police Officer position classification is under the direction of a Sergeant, while serving the City and community at large by performing a variety of peace officer duties involving the protection of life and property. Enforce laws and ordinances of the City, State, and Federal government. Provide assistance and protection to residents through the execution of a program of community policing that includes education and crime prevention, investigation, and suppression activities.
Applicants must possess a High School Diploma, or an equivalent certificate recognized by the State of California. An Associate’s Degree with emphasis in criminology, law enforcement/ administration of justice, political science, social or behavioral science or a related field, preferred. One year of experience in law enforcement as a peace officer with a Police or Sheriff Department in a full-time or reserve capacity desired. Copies of DMV printout must be obtained and Basic P.O.S.T Certificate is required. Maintain a valid California Drivers License with a driving record acceptable to the City.
