Salary: $54,870.40 – $84,094.40 Annually.

Essential Functions:

  • Police Officers receive training in law enforcement principles and procedures, such as criminal investigation, evidence collection, patrol, and traffic procedures.
  • Receives training in applicable Laws, Ordinances, Codes, and Departmental Rules and Procedures.
  • Receives in-service training and guidance from Supervisors while performing entry-level law enforcement work in patrol, traffic, and other Police functions.
  • May operate a Police vehicle while patrolling an assigned area; responds to calls for assistance; enforces Laws and Ordinances; performs other functions normally performed by an Officer on a training basis with supervision.
  • Prepares accident, offense, incident, arrest, and other forms of reports.
  • Checks for proper operation of assigned equipment; performs emergency repair; reports mechanical problems.
  • Administers first aid to injured individuals as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • United States citizenship (this is a POST Certification requirement).
  • 21 years of age by date of hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (copy of transcripts required).
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • The ability to successfully complete all testing requirements.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to function on a day-to-day basis with limited supervision.
  • Certified by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) Council within one year of employment.
  • Successful candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.
  • Successful candidates must pass medical, polygraph and psychological examinations (after a contingent offer of employment).
