Police Officer 2024
Salary: $54,870.40 – $84,094.40 Annually.
Essential Functions:
- Police Officers receive training in law enforcement principles and procedures, such as criminal investigation, evidence collection, patrol, and traffic procedures.
- Receives training in applicable Laws, Ordinances, Codes, and Departmental Rules and Procedures.
- Receives in-service training and guidance from Supervisors while performing entry-level law enforcement work in patrol, traffic, and other Police functions.
- May operate a Police vehicle while patrolling an assigned area; responds to calls for assistance; enforces Laws and Ordinances; performs other functions normally performed by an Officer on a training basis with supervision.
- Prepares accident, offense, incident, arrest, and other forms of reports.
- Checks for proper operation of assigned equipment; performs emergency repair; reports mechanical problems.
- Administers first aid to injured individuals as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- United States citizenship (this is a POST Certification requirement).
- 21 years of age by date of hire.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (copy of transcripts required).
- A valid driver’s license.
- The ability to successfully complete all testing requirements.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to function on a day-to-day basis with limited supervision.
- Certified by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) Council within one year of employment.
- Successful candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.
- Successful candidates must pass medical, polygraph and psychological examinations (after a contingent offer of employment).
