Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the Police Captain performs a wide range of technical, administrative, and analytical duties in support of assigned Police services, programs, and projects. The purpose of this position is to receive, process, and disseminate reports and records specialized and complex police records processing duties. This is a paraprofessional classification that has independent responsibility for the completion of assigned programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs a wide variety of technical and clerical law enforcement support duties related to collecting, recording, transcribing, maintaining, processing, editing, retrieving, and distributing technical and confidential law enforcement data and information including police reports, citations, warrants, protective orders, and subpoenas
  • Receives, reviews, and processes police reports for record keeping completeness, data entry into law enforcement databases, and conducting research consistent with policy; prepares daily reports for case assignments; maintains and ensures all reports are completed in compliance with department policy and state and federal laws
  • Processes and prepares reports, for complaints to the District Attorney; logs all reports sent to the District Attorney’s Office; processes all reports to be forwarded to proper individual or agency
  • Analyzes, records, and compiles statistics in compliance with state and federal crime reporting guidelines and regulations; prepares crime statistics and reports as assigned
  • Prepares correspondence, reports and forms, as needed
  • Assists with the administration and maintenance of Public Safety programs and software; coordinates with vendors to ensure timely diagnosis, resolution and follow-up of a wide variety of software and hardware issues
  • Provide administrative and clerical assistance to the department
  • Serves as secondary Property & Evidence Technician as needed
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in criminal justice or related field.
  • Three years of experience working in Police services.
  • At time of appointment, a Texas Motor Vehicle Class C Operator’s License with a satisfactory driving record maintained throughout employment.
