Police Sergeant
Salary: $20.95 – $22.11
Essential Functions:
- Answers calls relayed by dispatcher, to include: domestic disputes, burglaries, robberies, fights, suspicious characters, traffic investigations,
- Conducts roll call in the absence of the Lieutenant; conducts uniform and vehicle inspections; briefs shift personnel on current information effecting operations; briefs shift personnel concerning extra patrol assignments.
- Remains informed of officers’ locations, activities and
- Advises and assists officers in all areas of police
- Ensures officer compliance with all departmental standard operating
- Conducts patrol activities; enforces local, state and federal laws; answers calls for
- Investigates reported crimes; investigates traffic
- Interviews witnesses, suspects and
- Obtains search and arrest warrants; assists with and assigns units to conduct search warrants with investigative units; serves arrest
- Resolves conflicts and disputes within the
- Assists other departments or agencies as
- Completes a variety of reports, including daily and monthly reports, incident and accident reports, citations and summonses, false alarm reports, arrest and booking reports, and case
- Attends court and offers
- Completes required
- Assists with security and traffic control at special
- Inspects weapons, patrol car and other equipment; monitors patrol car maintenance.
- Performs related
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of three years related experience required, not to include the field training process.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment
- Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia and/or academy admittance pursuant to Georgia Law.
