Police/Law Enforcement Officer
Salary Range $45,780
Responsibilities
Position will perform sworn law enforcement duties.*Shift work required and nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
Must meet the requirements of Chapter 943, Florida Statutes; be certifiable as a law enforcement officer in Florida; and have one year of law enforcement experience. Military or other appropriate experience may substitute for the required law enforcement experience. Appropriate college work or vocational/technical training may substitute for the required experience. Will obtain 911 telecommunications certification by second year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous law enforcement experience in a college or university setting; Associate’s degree.
$2,500 signing bonus available for successful candidates.
Position requires successful completion of the following: post-offer employment physical to include drug screen, psychological test, polygraph, background investigation, fingerprinting and valid Florida driver’s license. Reimbursement for Equivalency of Training class fees negotiable.
This position is designated as essential mission critical personnel. As such, they are required to respond to calls for emergency work 365 days/yr. after regular business hours, on weekends, or when the campus is closed. It may also be required to remain on campus throughout emergencies such as hurricanes and flooding.
This position is eligible for Veteran’s Preference.
Physical Demands
Work under inclement weather conditions and shift work.
