Salary: $50,880.00 Annually.

Position Summary:

Under immediate supervision, learns to dispatch Police, Fire and emergency medical personnel and equipment; actively participates in dispatch training courses; performs related learning and testing activities, and participates in field training exercises to fully develop dispatching skills with the assistance of higher-level dispatchers to perform a variety of emergency communication duties; and performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High school; and
  • One (1) year of work experience which included one (1) or a combination of the following: public contact, customer service, clerical duties, radio telephone or telephone switchboard operation, or dispatching.
  • At the time of appointment, the candidate selected may need to possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license if the position requires it.
  • Successful completion of semester credits leading towards a degree or diploma from an accredited community college, business or technical school, college, or university may be substituted for up to four (4) years of the work experience requirement (15 semester credits = 6 months).
  • An Associate’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the work experience requirement.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to four (4) years of the work experience requirement.
  • A Master’s or PhD degree in any field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the work experience requirement.
