Salary: $52,000 – $56,000 per year.

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the 911 Communications Manager, answers all incoming 911 emergency and non-emergency police, fire, and medical calls. Inputs information in a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for law enforcement response and documentation. Radio dispatching of law enforcement personnel; access to criminal justice information that requires handling and dissemination of sensitive materials; directs callers and gives non-emergency information, enters information into criminal justice information systems; and performs other related duties as assigned.

This position requires shift work in a team environment that can be highly stressful. We are a 24 hours/7 days per week operation; including weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays. Schedules may be 8 or 10 hour shifts that may require overtime with or without advance notice. As such, the selected candidate must be available for any shift.

Requirements:

  • You must be 18+ years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), and be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Within six months of hire, the selected candidate must qualify for Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) certification, training will be provided.
  • Though not required, the desired candidate will possess at least one (1) year of experience in a comparable capacity or two years of clerical, general office, or call center experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint is also preferred.
  • Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, be able to work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
  • An Associate’s Degree and one or more years of experience in public safety emergency communications or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Prospective candidates will be required to pass a background investigation, truth verification exam, and drug screen.
