Police Officer Requirements – Minnesota
Minimum Requirements to be a Police Officer in Minnesota
Age At least 21 years old
Citizenship U.S. citizen
Education High School Diploma or G.E.D
Other Requirements
- Possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license
- Complete a comprehensive written application
- Submit to a thorough background search
- Not registered as a predatory offender
- No felony convictions / criminal offenses / narcotics or controlled substance law violations
- Comply w/ fingerprinted requirements
- Undergo a thorough medical examination
- free from any emotional or mental condition which might adversely affect the performance of peace officer duties
- Pass a job-related examination of the applicant’s physical strength and agility
- Successfully complete an oral examination
- Pass the POST Licensing Exam / POST Reciprocity Licensing Exam.
