Telecommunicator
Salary: $48,733.13 per year.
Essential Functions:
- Performs intermediate technical work on an assigned rotating shift (4 on, 4 off shift; rotating between days and nights, 6am – 6pm & 6pm – 6am) dispatching law enforcement for emergency and non-emergency calls for service;
- Operates emergency communication system; obtains necessary information and dispatches medical, fire and law enforcement personnel and/or advises callers of proper contact for assistance or information; answers emergency and non-emergency calls; receives complaints and requests for service;
- Operates a computer terminal; transmits and receives information via Department of Criminal Information (DCI) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) networks; enters medical, fire and law enforcement calls into computer aided dispatch system;
- Operates multi-line telephone and various computer and communications equipment;
- Monitors radio channels for medical, fire and law enforcement agencies; maintains radio contact with dispatched personnel;
- Maintains communication logs and reports;
- Assists other law enforcement agencies as needed with emergency and non-emergency information;
- Performs related tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license upon hire.
- Must obtain North Carolina Division of Criminal Information Terminal Operator, Emergency Medical Dispatch and CPR certifications within six months of employment.
- Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
