Salary: $48,733.13 per year.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs intermediate technical work on an assigned rotating shift (4 on, 4 off shift; rotating between days and nights, 6am – 6pm & 6pm – 6am) dispatching law enforcement for emergency and non-emergency calls for service;
  • Operates emergency communication system; obtains necessary information and dispatches medical, fire and law enforcement personnel and/or advises callers of proper contact for assistance or information; answers emergency and non-emergency calls; receives complaints and requests for service;
  • Operates a computer terminal; transmits and receives information via Department of Criminal Information (DCI) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) networks; enters medical, fire and law enforcement calls into computer aided dispatch system;
  • Operates multi-line telephone and various computer and communications equipment;
  • Monitors radio channels for medical, fire and law enforcement agencies; maintains radio contact with dispatched personnel;
  • Maintains communication logs and reports;
  • Assists other law enforcement agencies as needed with emergency and non-emergency information;
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license upon hire.
  • Must obtain North Carolina Division of Criminal Information Terminal Operator, Emergency Medical Dispatch and CPR certifications within six months of employment.
  • Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
