Telecommunications Operator

Salary: $26.47/hr

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the telecommunications operator is responsible for answering multiple incoming phone lines, dispatching calls, operating the 9-1-1 system and using the radio during assigned shifts, and providing general information to the public. The operator must be willing and able to work flexible shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent; OR
• At least six (6) months of equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• A Valid Class C Texas driver’s license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to work with the general public
• Ability to use radio and electronic data communication devices
• Ability to handle several tasks at one time, possibly under a stressful situation
