Salary: $25.46-$30.94 per hour.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, deputies perform responsible police work, crime prevention, and community service functions in furtherance of department objectives. This is a sworn/commissioned position that requires working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Functions:

  • Patrol assigned areas in marked police vehicle or on foot.
  • Answer calls for service from the public.
  • Make arrests and issue citations for violations of laws.
  • Investigate criminal violations.
  • Interview victims, suspects, and witnesses, secure, preserve and process crime scenes for physical evidence, testify in court, prepare oral and written reports of activities.
  • Respond to emergencies involving injured and/or violent persons.

Requirements:

  • Possession of high school diploma or GED equivalent (college is highly desirable),
  • Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment. Possession of valid Colorado post basic certificate of completion,
  • Possession of valid Colorado driver’s license,
  • Ability to effectively read, write and speak English,
  • Ability to use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public,
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility for employment in the US,
  • Free of felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, history of demonstrated maturity, good judgment, and ethical behavior,
  • Must be able to lawfully possess a firearm, residency requirement – must live within 35 miles of the county line.
