Sheriff, Deputy
Salary: $69,550.52 – $104,325.79 Annually.
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, perform work of moderate difficulty in the enforcement of law and maintenance of order, protection of life and property, prevention and investigation of crime and custody of inmates.
Essential Functions:
- Patrol all assigned areas for the prevention of crime and enforcement of laws and ordinances.
- Investigate criminal activity.
- Testify in court, and present and explain photographs, charts and exhibits.
- Serve criminal subpoenas and may serve other court orders.
- Check doors and windows of business establishments and investigate any suspicious conditions, activities or persons.
- Make arrests for violations of laws and ordinances.
- Operate rescue equipment, including boats and related equipment.
- May photograph crime and accident scenes.
- May transfer patients and inmates to and from institutions, including escorting inmates to jail.
- Prepare reports.
- Train other deputies.
Requirements:
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed by date of hire as a Peace Officer in the State of Minnesota by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
- Some positions may require a valid driver’s license. If a position requires driving a county vehicle, or driving county clients using a personal vehicle, the applicable requirements of the Hennepin County Motor Vehicle Safety policy must be met.
