Position Summary:

This position will provide protection for RBC’s students, faculty, staff and visitors through the enforcement of state laws and the compliance with policies and procedures and conduct thorough patrols in the department’s statutory jurisdiction. As a direct report to the Police Captain, this position will understand and practice campus/community policing, providing emergency medical response; patrolling the college campus; conducting routine traffic enforcement to include speeding, accidents, parking, etc.; enforce and investigate any violations of the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and RBC’s policies and regulations, as well as perform all other duties as assigned. This position will perform these duties to meet the mission of RBC and the Police Department.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Current certification as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services
  • U. S. citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess valid Virginia driver’s license
  • No convictions of felonies and/or serious misdemeanors
  • Possess certification as a Crime Prevention Specialist through DCJS, or able to obtain certification
  • This position requires the knowledge and demonstrated ability to proficiently manage and operate the department’s K-9 (Therapy Dog) program
  • Successfully pass all phases of the police officer selection process to include physical agility test, extensive background investigation, MMPI, interview, and a medical and drug screening by a physician.
