Position Summary:

The Town of Butner is seeking a Public Safety Officer to perform specialized law enforcement and fire service work in accordance with established police/fire methods and departmental practices and procedures. This is a unique opportunity to provide dual police and fire services in a small community located just outside Raleigh/Durham, NC.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 20 years of age and have a high school education or equivalent.
  • Preference given to candidates that have successfully completed the NC Basic Law Enforcement Training or are currently certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in North Carolina, and/or are certified as a Level II Firefighter in accordance with the NC State Fire Marshal’s Office.
  • Selected applicants will be required to complete pre-employment requirements including: background investigation, physical examination, and drug-screening.
  • Position requires working 12-hour rotating shifts.
