Police Sergeant
Salary: $73,377.82.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts internal affairs investigations to ascertain facts and obtain evidence on alleged violations and misconduct.
- Interviews involved parties and obtains statements; Collects and reviews the evidence.
- Prepares comprehensive and detailed reports of investigations.
- Testifies in administrative hearings.
- Maintains a level of understanding and familiarity with the department’s policies and procedures, county personnel policy, county ordinances, state laws, and case law sufficient to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Manages and ensures departmental compliance with GACP state certification and CALEA accreditation standards.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED;
- Supplemented by 40 semester college hours from an accredited college/university or have obtained at least 400 hours of advanced law enforcement-related training or a combination of college hours and training hours to equal 400 equivalent training hours.
- A minimum of five (5) years of previous law enforcement experience, including one (1) year experience with internal affairs investigations and 18 months experience as a police supervisor at the rank of Sergeant or higher.
- Must possess and maintain valid Georgia P.O.S.T. Peace Officer certification or be eligible to obtain certification through the equivalency of the training process.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
