Police Officer Trainee
Salary: $35.31 Hourly
Position Summary:
The Police Officer Trainee learns to enforce Federal, State, and local laws and to respond to calls for the protection of life and property by attending a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for the performance of Police Officer duties. This position requires a thorough background investigation, a polygraph/voice stress analysis examination, a psychological assessment, and a medical exam prior to appointment.
Requirements:
- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited U.S. high school; passing score on the General Education Development (GED) test; OR possession of a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university. College coursework in police science, criminal justice, or a related field is desirable.
- Not required but desired.
- Must be 21 years of age as of the date of hire per California Government Code 1031.4.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States per California Government Code 1031 and Federal Code §274a.2.
- Must be of good moral character with no felony convictions.
- Must be lawfully able to possess a firearm.
- Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
