Salary: $27.38 – $36.41 Hourly

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of law enforcement work associated with patrol, traffic enforcement, and investigations.

Essential Functions:

  • Patrols an assigned area of the Community in a radio-equipped vehicle checking businesses/residences, discovering/preventing criminal activities, and enforcing State/Community laws/ordinances.
  • Responds to calls involving automobile accidents, assaults, domestic disturbances, and other criminal activities/civil complaints to secure the scene, conduct preliminary investigations, and establish law and order.
  • Arrests, questions, and transports suspects and/or persons with outstanding arrest warrants to jail facilities.
  • Ensures that arrested persons are processed (booked) into jail in accordance with State and Federal guidelines and Police Department and jail procedures.
  • Prepares incident reports regarding all activities to facilitate preparation of prosecutable cases.
  • Secures/investigates crime scenes to ensure that the collection, preservation, and handling of physical evidence and property meets established professional and legal standards.
  • Gathers and records/preserves information and evidence. Interviews/interrogates victims, suspects, and witnesses to obtain and verify information pertinent to the investigation and resolution of a variety of criminal/potentially criminal incidents.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must possess Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (POST) certification as a Peace Officer with no lapse of certified status and be in good standing with current or previous employer; OR be able to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • A citizen of the United States.
  • Meet or exceed the physical standards established by the Arizona POST.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and be able to meet the Community’s insurance carrier requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully complete an extensive background check, including a polygraph test, psychological evaluation and medical exam.
