Police Officer – Lateral
Salary: $6,060 – $7,366 Monthly
Essential Functions:
- Patrols assigned areas of the City by car or on foot to aid in preventing crime and to enforce Federal, State and City laws and regulations
- Conducts criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and interrogating suspects
- Serves and enforces civil process issued by the courts to include restraining orders, orders of protection, no contact order, anti-harassment orders, and subpoenas. Serves arrest and search warrants.
- Prepares and writes a variety of reports and records, such as reports on arrest, property impounded, accidents, offenses, damages to property, and results of investigations.
- Prevents crime by explaining and enforcing applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinance; mediating disputes; patrolling assigned area; responding to notices of disturbances; conducting searches; observing suspicious activities and detaining subjects.
Requirements:
- Current Police Officer
- Peace Officer Certification through Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC)
- Washington State Criminal Justice Training or Equivalent Training
- Thorough understanding of content, intent, and applications of criminal law
