Police Officer – Full Time
The White Bear Lake Police Department is currently accepting applications to fill multiple immediate openings and to establish an eligibility list for full-time Police Officer. Applicants must have earned at least an Associate Degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or equivalent and be MN POST licensed, or eligible to be licensed by the date of appointment. Applicants must also possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license or equivalent out-of-state license.
While in close proximity to the Twin Cities, White Bear Lake maintains its own distinct, small-town character. The White Bear Lake Police Department is authorized for 31 officers and has a service area population of over 25,000 people in northern Ramsey County. The department is committed to community engagement and outreach, and all officers have the opportunity to develop and participate in numerous community activities throughout the year.
The department offers opportunities for career development such as Investigations, School Resource Officers, Ramsey County SWAT, SWAT Negotiators, Ramsey County Violent Crime Enforcement Team, Mobile Field Force and Field Training Officers. The police department provides a comprehensive officer wellness program which includes an embedded mental health professional on staff, wellness/resiliency training, and debriefs with licensed professionals following all critical incidents. The City provides all initial duty equipment and offers tuition reimbursement opportunities for continuing education. Experienced Officers have the opportunity to start higher in the pay scale dependent upon years of experience as a sworn police officer.
Position salary range: $75,442 to $101,546.
