The Hiring Process:
ENTRY Level Candidates –

  • Test with the National Testing Network.
    o Register, take the test, and apply your scores to OCPD (passing score of 75%)
  • Complete a City of Oregon City job ENTRY level application
  • Complete at ORPAT (physical agility test)
  • Pass Oral Board Interview
  • Pass Command Staff Interview
  • Pass Background Investigation
  • Pass Physical and Psychological Evaluation
  • Attend 16-week Oregon Department of Safety and Standards Training (DPPST) Academy
  • Pass the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP)

LATERAL Level Candidates –

  • Currently certified with DPSST as a Police Officer
  • Have completed FTEP
  • Have three current years of Police Officer experience
  • In good standing with a State of Oregon law enforcement agency
  • ONLY need to complete and submit a City of Oregon City LATERAL job application
