Position Summary:

As a police officer with the King Cove Department of Public Safety, you will have the unique opportunity to respond to emergency calls for Police, Fire, and EMS services, ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.

Essential Functions:

  • Enforce local, state, and federal laws, maintaining peace and order within the community.
  • Provide a timely and efficient emergency response, ensuring the safety of individuals in need.
  • Generate detailed written reports, conduct interviews, and testify at court proceedings, contributing to the justice system.
  • Enjoy the independence of performing your duties with professionalism and integrity

Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Have been certified as a law enforcement officer in AK or another state.
  • Meet Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) background requirements for certification or possess an APSC Basic Certification or higher.
  • Out-of-state Laterals must successfully complete the two-week APSC Equivalency Course within one year of employment.
  • Good command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Possess a valid Alaska driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
  • No felony arrests, to include Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, or Drug Distribution.
