Police Officer (Academy Complete and POST Certified)
Salary: $98,703.07 – $149,279.10 Annually
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, performs routine to complex tasks and duties assigned to classes within the Police Officer series including protection of public health, safety and welfare, and enforcement of applicable federal, state and local laws; learns policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; performs related duties as required.
Essential Functions:
- Patrols assigned areas by car, foot, motorcycle or other methods as may be appropriate.
- Responds to questions, concerns and requests for service from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves complaints.
- Performs investigations and takes appropriate action in cases of law violations.
- Preserves law and order; prevents and discovers the commission of crime; enforces regulations and laws. Apprehends lawbreakers.
- Obtains and processes evidence; traces persons and vehicles involved in accidents or violations of law.
- Takes written statements; clears accident scenes; prepares required reports; testifies in court; maintains investigative records.
- Assists other agencies as required.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma, or the equivalent
- Possession of a valid unrestricted class C California driver’s license.
- Possession of a Basic Certificate issued by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
- Bilingual Spanish/English speaking skills are highly desired.
