Police Officer
Salary: $47.24 – $54.59 Hourly
Position Summary:

Essential Functions:
1. Patrol city to deter and detect criminal activity and perform traffic law enforcement; make arrests, where appropriate; administer first aid; and rescue persons in dangerous or accident situations
2. Communicate with the public and members of the Police Department
3. Must have the ability to operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to; police radios, mobile digital computers, radar units, digital recording devices, cameras, fire extinguishers, oxygen resuscitators, etc.
4. Have knowledge of and commitment to Community Orientated Policing/Problem Orientated Policing as a department philosophy
5. Performs all other duties as required or assigned
Requirements:
- Candidates must be currently licensed as a Minnesota Peace Officer (POST) and have at least one year of law enforcement experience.
- Out-of-state officers should review Minnesota POST Board reciprocity requirements to determine eligibility.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field
- Currently licensed as a Minnesota Peace Officer (POST). Out of state officers should review the Minnesota POST Board reciprocity requirements to determine eligibility.
- One (1) or more years of law enforcement experience.
- Successful completion of job-related medical, physical agility, drug, and psychological examinations
- Must be able to perform essential position functions under the working conditions as described
- Must supply background information as requested
- Involuntary terminations within the past five (5) years may result in application rejection for non-police, sheriff, and government-related positions
- Involuntary terminations WILL result in application rejection for police, sheriff, and government-related positions
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field (by start of employment)
- Fluency in a non-English language
- Experience communicating with the public
- Ability to express oneself clearly, both orally and in writing
