Police Officer
Salary: $52,088.40
Essential Functions:
- Patrols designated area of the City to preserve the peace, to prevent and discover criminal acts, and to enforce traffic regulations.
- Is responsible for being knowledgeable of the crime problem in assigned work area and developing strategies to combat the problem. Develop contacts and provide intelligence reports to detectives and administration.
- Makes preliminary investigations at crime scenes or incidents, protects and collects physical evidence, locates witnesses, interviews witnesses, makes arrests.
- Interviews complaints and witnesses to obtain information about crimes; assists in investigative work.
- Prepares evidence for issuance of complaints and testifies as a witness in both civil and criminal court, transports prisoners.
- Patrol’s school zones and high activity areas when assigned.
- Assists motorists, directs traffic, investigates accidents, recovers stolen automobiles, prepares detailed reports, advise of and interpret laws and ordinances and provides general information to the public.
- Cooperates and coordinates with other law enforcement agencies and other components of the Criminal Justice System.
Requirements:
- Minimum age, 19
- Police Standards Certificate of Completion or Compliance and passing grade on State test
- High school diploma required
- Completion of the Minimum Standards courses set by Florida Police Standards Council
- Valid Florida driver’s license required
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
