Police Officer

Salary: $21.71 – $30.00 per hour

Essential Functions:

•Enforces university regulations and city and state laws as they apply to university property and designated areas.
•Performs routine tasks as assigned using existing procedures, practices, techniques, etc.
•Patrols, inspects, supervises, responds to, etc., routine Institutional Safety and/or police operations
•Performs standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, resourcing, etc., as necessary
•Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems and/or correct standard, routine issues
•Conducts preliminary investigations, collecting and preserving evidence, etc.
•Has limited impact on own work team
•Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet established deadlines
•Exchanges straightforward information
•Develop working relationships with various teams/parties
•Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity to audience/situation

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid Missouri operator’s license (for positions at UMKC only, valid Kansas operator’s license acceptable).
• Must obtain and maintain Missouri POST certification in accordance with current state requirements.
• Certification may be required prior to appointment and is mandatory once employed.

Preferred Requirements:

• 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university OR 2 years of federal active duty military service with an honorable discharge OR 2 years experience as a full-time POST certified peace officer.
