Salary: $25.64 per hour.

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing all phases of police work including protection of life and property, preservation of peace and order of the College community, enforcement of laws, public safety, investigative work and other related duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Prevent illegal, unsafe and undesirable activity and regulatory violations through patrol, education, inspection and the deterrent effect of enforcement. (Essential)
  • Enforce the state and local laws, and appropriate College regulations through investigation, apprehension and prosecution of violators. (Essential)
  • Investigate reported crime, accidents, and incidents; submit completed reports of investigation to the Chief. (Essential)
  • Perform as an investigator in plainclothes as directed. (Essential)
  • Perform as police-community relations officer as required. (Essential)
  • Perform patrol and surveillance duties as directed. (Essential)
  • Recognize and report public safety hazards. (Essential)
  • Serve as a member of College committees and as a public speaker as required. (Marginal)
  • Acquire and apply skills and techniques such as first aid; photography; finger printing; crime scene search; collection and preservation of evidence; report writing; interviewing of victims, witnesses, suspects and accused; case preparation and court presentation. (Essential)
  • Render assistance to persons and agencies by providing advice, information, investigation, inspection, transportation, first aid, and similar services. (Essential)

Requirements:

  • Current Act 120 Training. (Minimum)
  • Employment with Act 120 Training is conditional until certified as a Police Officer by Municipal -Police Officer Education and Training Commission (MPOETC). (Minimum)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Twelve (12) credits of college-level coursework, OR, in lieu of education, experience as a police officer. (Desired)
  • Associate degree. (Desired)
  • Pennsylvania law enforcement experience. (Desired)
  • Knowledge of or direct experience working with individuals of diverse cultures, a variety of backgrounds, and those dealing with issues related to sexual misconduct. (Desired)
