Salary: $33.65/hr.

Position Summary:

Sworn police officer who will perform all related duties including, but not limited to: patrolling University property on foot, bicycle, or by vehicle, to engage the University community and public for the prevention of crimes; detect and interrupt crimes in progress; enforce city, state and federal laws; enforce traffic regulations; conduct investigations on criminal offenses and traffic accidents to gather evidence, obtain witnesses and make arrests; provide documentation and testimony to Judicial Board and courts; and provide general security for University properties and citizens on campus to ensure a safe environment for all.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Ability to meet, communicate, and work with the general public effectively and to react calmly, quickly, and accurately in emergency situations is essential.
  • Must successfully pass physical, psychological, and polygraph exams.
  • Must meet minimum qualifications to attend and successfully complete the Basic Training Academy as provided by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Preferred Requirements:

  • State Deputy Sheriff Commission certification, Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center certification, and CPR certification.
  • Specialized training in defensive tactics, firearms, pursuit driving, and hazmat.
