Pay: $88,088.00 – $110,164.00 per year
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the police Sergeant, the Police Officer performs a wide variety of routine and complex public safety work in the performance of police patrol, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, citizen assistance, and other law enforcement related activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrols the City of Dacono in a vehicle, on foot, or on a bicycle to enforce municipal codes and state law to protect individuals and property, preserve the peace, control vehicular traffic, detect and investigate suspicious activity, prevent, deter, and detect misconduct involving felonies, misdemeanors and any law violations.
- Responds to and handles routine, difficult, and emergency situations with independent judgment and discretion where immediate assistance is not available.
- Responds to and investigates calls and complaints involving traffic accidents, misdemeanors, felonies, and other law violations and determines the proper course of enforcement action.
- Maintains awareness of and reports any hazards that may exist creating a public safety concern.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, records and or logs to fulfill documentation requirements of enforcement and investigative activities.
- Analyzes and interprets state statutes and municipal codes, state statutes and applies the analysis and interpretation to daily enforcement, investigative and responsive activities as required.
- Solves problems with a creative and innovative approach to identify community concerns; presents optional courses of action and identifies resources to members of the community and the public.
- Performs all other duties as required by supervisory personnel.

- Ability to apply a wide range of comprehension from common sense understanding to complex analysis
