Police Officer
Position Summary:
The Police Officer works under general supervision of a shift or operations supervisor and the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Campus Police. The Police Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure campus environment; and the enforcement of University policies, state and local laws.
Essential Functions:
– Crime prevention, campus patrol, radio communications, parking and traffic enforcement, criminal investigations and follow-up, and report writing.
-Provide protection for University persons, property, and guests.
-Maintain surveillance of all areas within department jurisdiction.
-Identify and report hazards to safety and security of the campus.
-Interact with other law enforcement agencies when appropriate.
-Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
– Required to be 21 years of age or older.
– Must be a U.S. citizen.
– High school graduate or equivalent.
– Must have no criminal convictions.
– Must pass a psychological examination.
– Must pass a thorough background investigation conducted by the University.
– Must pass a physical examination by a licensed physician at the candidate’s own expense.
– Valid driver’s license.
– Must have a telephone for emergency recall by department.
– Essential employee will be required to report to work during emergency or disaster situations.
