The City of Big Lake is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. The purpose of this position is to uphold state and local laws, provide timely response and appropriate public safety services at all times and demonstrate and maintain effective relations with the public.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure under the rules and regulations of the Minnesota Board of Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). Candidates must communicate effectively both orally and in writing; must possess valid Minnesota Driver’s License without recent significant traffic violations; must pass a thorough background investigation and psychological examinations for this position. Entry-level and lateral candidates are encouraged to apply.

Salary Range (2023) is $65,379.15 ($31.4) to $83,200.00 ($40.00) with top step beginning in 9th year. Benefits to include lateral entry up to Step 6 ($36.44/hr) with experience credit, Uniform allowance of $850.00 annually, up to $ 1,500.00 annual fitness incentive, shift differential ($1.05), full single healthcare and family dental.
