Responsibilities: Protection of life and property, enforce state and local laws/ordinances, conduct investigations, and perform other essential functions of a police officer.

Salary & Benefits: Base starting wage of $59,752 per 2023 contract as of 1/1/2023 depending on years worked. A higher level starting wage (up to $71,489) and vacation may be granted for candidates with full-time law enforcement experience.

Signing Bonuses:
a. Sponsorship of a new hire’s academy training if hired before enrollment.
b. Each new hire with 2 years or more full-time law enforcement experience qualify for a signing bonus of $2,000. Additionally, new hires whose most recent employer was an out-of-state governmental agency, an additional bonus of up to $500 for each year of relevant out-of-state experience as a law enforcement officer, up to an additional $2,000.

Each new hire who receives recruitment incentives must agree to complete at least three years of continuous employment with the Chippewa Falls Police Department.

Qualifications: Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 20 years of age by date of hire, have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, good physical condition, high school diploma, a two year Associate Degree or a minimum of 60 college-level credits by date of hire, Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certification preferred, ability to possess a firearm, no felony convictions, no domestic abuse convictions, vision correctable to 20/20, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to react quickly and effectively to stressful situations, ability to consistently work evenings/weekends/holidays, clear and concise speech, knowledge and skills in operating computer systems; ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, ability to perform all the essential functions of this position, and ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment; ability to consistently and reliably work assigned shifts as well as overtime and training as required.
