Position Summary:

Our community is known for its award-winning beaches, welcoming atmosphere, and strong sense of community spirit. The Emerald Isle Police Department is comprised of approximately thirty sworn officers (permanent and part-time) and eight support staff. This position will fill an opening in our Beach Patrol Unit which focuses on the safety and security of residents and visitors along a twelve-mile stretch of the Crystal Coast. This role requires active community involvement, the ability to foster positive relationships with the public, and the representation of our department goals, Honor, Integrity, and Transparency.

Essential Functions:

  • Performing investigations
  • Investigating traffic accidents
  • Directing Traffic
  • Preparing records and reports of activities
  • Patrolling street(s) and beach in car, on foot, or on a bicycle
  • Working effectively in a team environment

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.
  • The applicant must also be a graduate of BLET, be eligible for certification as a law enforcement officer through NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards and possess or be eligible for a N.C. Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a stringent background investigation, physical examination, drug screen and psychological evaluation.
