Salary: $70,257.00 Annually

Position Summary:

The Prince George’s County Police Department is now accepting applications from individuals interested in pursuing a rewarding career as a Police Officer. Essential Functions:

• Enforce local, state, and federal laws to protect life and property
• Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and ensure public safety
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
• Investigate crimes by collecting evidence and interviewing victims and witnesses
• Prepare accurate reports and maintain detailed records
• Make arrests and issue citations when appropriate
• Enforce traffic laws and respond to traffic accidents
• Provide assistance and support to individuals in crisis situations
• Engage with the community to build trust and promote crime prevention
• Testify in court and work with prosecutors and other justice partners
• Uphold departmental policies, ethical standards, and professional conduct

Requirements:

• U.S. Citizen
• High School graduate; (60+ college credit hours preferred)
• 21 years old at time of graduation from the Police Academy (20 years and 3 months old at time of application)
• Possess a valid driver’s license and at least 6 months driving experience
• Successfully complete all requirements of the Background and Selection Process
