Position Summary:
Francis Marion University invites applications from people who want to be part of a team which is directly responsible for the safety of the FMU community. FMU Police Officers patrol campus and the surrounding community to make them safer, work with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to solve problems, conduct educational and community meetings, mediate disputes, investigate traffic collisions, investigate crimes, make arrests, and provide general police services.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma and certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with § 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
- The applicant should have an aspiration for personal growth, professional development, and the desire to be a member of a team that maintains a safe campus community.
- Required to participate and successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy training if not currently a Class 1 police officer.
- Required to receive and maintain a SLED Group 1 Constable Commission.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Have a satisfactory credit report, a valid SC driver’s license.
- Pass an extensive background investigation which includes a social media review.
