The salary for the position is up to $59,025 per year with a full benefit package.
NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision, performs routine and critical duties involving a wide range of public services, crime prevention and apprehension, traffic enforcement, criminal investigation, City Ordinance, State and Federal law enforcement, and corrections functions as assigned. Performs related work as required.
The police officer makes independent, critical decisions which impact the lives and property of members of the public, as well as other members of public safety agencies. Officers are called upon to solve a broad scope of problems within the community, often relying on the ability to identify community resources, ranging from domestic difficulties within the home, to effectively combat criminal elements.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
1. patrol in a vehicle or on foot within the City to provide a visible prevention profile to
deter criminal conduct, traffic offenses and other public hazards
2. provide a rapid response in time of emergency or when otherwise dispatched to a
call for assistance or a crime complaint
3. frequent personal contact with the public
4. take complaint reports
5. conduct investigations
6. mediate disputes
7. assist people generally
8. resolve domestic quarrels
9. initiate help for the mentally ill
10. counsel persons in crisis
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Have a valid driver’s license or able to obtain.
- No felony criminal record.
- No excessive traffic violations.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
