Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to prepare a non-certified applicant (Police Cadet) to receive the necessary training and education through The Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training (Police Academy) to become a prospective Police Officer. The Police Academy prepares the cadet to become an entry-level law enforcement officer in the State of Florida. Employees in this classification perform practical skills and simulated activities that complement the classroom instruction. This minimum standards program is regulated by the Florida statutes and is a highly structured and disciplined program. Upon successful completion of the Basic Training Program, a cadet is eligible to take the Florida Department of Law Enforcement State Officer Certification exam.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Passing scores on the Basic Abilities Test for Law Enforcement (BAT), Please note that you do not need to take the Basic Abilities Test for Law Enforcement (BAT) if you have an Associate’s Degree or higher.
  • Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Age 19 or higher.
  • Good driving record.
  • Clean criminal record.
