Position Summary:

Position provides a clear pathway to becoming an Independence Police Officer and provides needed support to units within the Independence Police Department. Duties are performed on a rotational basis through various units of the Independence Police Department.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be between 18 and 20 years of age to apply and cannot exceed their 21st birthday as a Cadet unless actively waiting for a Law Enforcement Academy class to begin.
  • Applicant must have an interest in a career as an Independence Police Officer.
  • Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license by date of application.
  • A good driving record, pass a comprehensive written exam, physical agility test, oral board interview, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, undergo an extensive background investigation with ability to render credible testimony in a court of law, pass a medical exam and drug screen.
