Position Summary:

It’s the responsibility of the County of Bucks, Emergency Services Uniformed Officer to deliver a professional, effective service, fairly and ethically, at all times to all people, in order to prevent crime, and enhance the overall quality of work and life for all county employees and visitors.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides security services for the County of Bucks employees and visitors on all County of Bucks properties and buildings owned, rented or leased.
  • Patrols in vehicles, bike and on foot public property, including but not limited to county buildings, offices, parking garage and government service centers.
  • Observes and reports faulty and/or unsafe utility equipment on county property.
  • Attends appropriate internal and/or external classes, seminars and training sessions to further develop law enforcement skills and knowledge.
  • May occasionally assist on fact-finding investigations or specific projects.
  • Detains/arrest individuals per County of Bucks ordinance and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania crimes code.
  • Appears and testifies in court.
  • Directs traffic and issues parking citations.
  • Provides emergency assistance and first aid.
  • Admits authorized personnel to locked buildings during secured hours, when approved.
  • Maintains regular radio contact with BCRR, (Bucks County Radio Room).
  • May complete necessary administrative forms/reports related to routine incidents that occur.
  • Performs other work-related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year police, security officer experience or related military service.
  • Must possess and maintain Act 235 (Lethal Weapons Training) before hire.
  • Must remain in good condition, both physically and mentally and capable of working all shifts and overtime.
  • Mature and courteous manner is essential.
  • Must be familiar with and understand the Force Continuum. Required to carry weapon, Taser, and ASP Tactical baton.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Equivalent training/experience/education will be taken into consideration.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical fitness test per MPOETC standards which includes the timed 1.5 mile run, 300 meter sprint, sit-ups and push-ups by age. If currently MPOETC- certified or equivalent, will waive agility portion of fitness test. Must still pass physical.
