Patrol Officer- Police Department
Salary:
- Auxiliary Officer: $25.65 per hour
- Recruit Patrol Officer: $59,488.21 per year
- Lateral Officer: $71,816.37 per year and up
Position Summary:
This is an entry level position responsible for answering calls for service, patrolling, conducting accident investigations and complaints, enforcing ordinances, regulations, and laws, and maintaining community relationships with our citizens. Work is performed under the supervision of a field supervisor and command structure.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be a United States Citizen.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Good moral character, vision at least 20/100 correctable to 20/30 with normal color vision and depth perception (at least 85% or better on the Shephard-Fry measurements).
- At least 20 1/2 years old at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Applicants should refer to K.S.A. 74-5605 for a full listing of disqualifiers for the State of Kansas Peace Officers.
- Applicants with current Law Enforcement Certification with three years of patrol/field experience from any recognized law enforcement agency (lateral transfer officers) may, at the department’s discretion, be sent through an abbreviated academy with KCKPD lasting approximately five weeks.
- All lateral applicants must submit official department training records and resume.
- The original completion certificate from the issuing agency is required at the time of application.
