Patrol Officer
Salary
Minimum wage for this position as a POST certified candidate is $27.33 per hour with maximum wage dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Job Summary:
The primary function of a Patrol Officer is to promote the peace, safety, and well-being of our community through interaction, education, and enforcement of the law. The Patrol Officer is responsible for delivering police services to the community, answering 911 calls, taking reports, solving problems and participating in community outreach and events.
Experience and Training:
Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required, Associates Degree or higher preferred.
Job Requirements: Valid Colorado Driver’s License required with acceptable driving record. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must be able to pass a thorough background and credit check, pre-employment medical exam and drug test, a polygraph and psychological examination acceptable to the City of Rifle.
Special Training or Skills: Current POST certification preferred or ability to obtain with 6 months of hire, bi-lingual English/Spanish speaking applicants preferred, but not required.
Special Requirements
Consideration will be given to applicants currently enrolled in Colorado POST Academy graduating in 2023. Preference given to applicants holding current Colorado POST Certification or officers holding out-of-state law enforcement certifications with the ability to obtain a Provisional Certification from State of CO and complete CO POST certification and skills exams within 6 months of hire.
