Non-Sworn – Police Officer (Recruit)

Salary: $36.06 Hourly

Position Summary:

Acting under the general supervision of a police sergeant. This position performs law enforcement and crime prevention work; to control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations; to perform investigative work and other special assignments; and to perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of the Department. This is a non-sworn position.

Requirements:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED with 12 college credit hours for the GED.
• Must be a Unites States citizen.
• Applicants must be a minimum of 20 years of age to apply and must be 21 years of age upon graduating from the Police Academy.
• Applicants with military experience require discharge be under honorable conditions.
• No felony or Class A misdemeanor convictions; no Class B misdemeanor convictions within the past 10 years.
• Must be able to pass the police academy and state licensing test(s).
• Must meet and maintain all regulatory requirements for Texas Police Officer License.
• Must obtain and maintain all required departmental and TCOLE certifications.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, psychological test, physical assessment, criminal background check and post-offer physical exam.
• Must possess State of Texas Drivers License at the time of employment.
