Salary: $89,600.00 – $95,500.00

Essential Functions:
- Working knowledge of all responsibilities for the duties of a patrol officer as listed on the Patrol Officer Classified Position Description.
- Supervises, evaluates performance, and assigns work for sergeants and patrol officers.
- Coordinates patrol operations including patrol and crime prevention strategies, community engagement initiatives, and ensuring the provision of the highest quality law enforcement services.
- Prepares periodic data analysis and analytical reports.
- Interviews, recommends appointment and discipline of employees.
- Inspects assignments to see that delegated responsibilities are carried out efficiently.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and attainment of department goals, objectives, and policies as requested by the Chief of Police.
- Evaluates activities of assigned areas and recommends improvements and modifications to optimize department operations.
- Assists in the enforcement of all laws, ordinances, departmental regulations, and Board policies.
- Assists with the review, revision, and creation of department General Orders and accreditation-related activities.
- Coordinates and facilitates meetings, events, and community engagement initiatives.
- Coordinates the security needs for events and functions.
- Enforces applicable state statutes, city and county ordinances, and Board policies when such are required for the protection of College properties, interests, students, employees, and guests.
- Assists other police agencies surrounding the College upon request.
- Reviews and maintains accountability for reports, documentation, response to, and investigation of calls for service.
- Successfully qualifies at department range qualifications.
- Adheres to department and College rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- BA degree required.
- MS degree preferred.
- Illinois Certified Police Officer and 5 years of law enforcement experience and a minimum of 3 years law enforcement and supervisory experience or other supervisory experience required.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, analyze situations under stressful conditions and adopt effective courses of action, and interpret and apply written information (laws, regulations, policy, legal opinions, etc.) required.
- Knowledge of police methods and procedure; principles and practices of leadership and supervision, training, and performance evaluation required; federal, state, and local laws regarding crime, search and seizure required.
- More than 5 years law enforcement experience preferred.
- Certified Peace Officer Upon Hire Required.
- Minimum age – 21 years.
- Must have valid Illinois Drivers License with a good driver’s record with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office or other states.
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the position.
- Required to pass a physical examination at College expense.
- Some exposure to outside weather year round.
- Some work during the night hours.
- May work 2nd or 3rd shift as required.
- Available on call 24 hours daily and 7 days per week.
- The physical effort to be able to lift items of 100 pounds.
- This position requires a background check and drug screen.
