Minimum requirements: U.S. Citizen; 21 years of age; high school diploma or GED; Licensed Peace Officer in the state of Texas at time of application; and successfully pass the required entry tests to include a physical readiness test and range qualification. At the end of your second year on patrol and upon successful completion of a promotional exam, you will be promoted to a Senior Deputy Sheriff with a pay increase.

The career path in Law Enforcement, after becoming a Senior Deputy is Detective, Sergeant and Lieutenant.

There are many specialized units in the Law Enforcement Bureau that will allow you to gain additional training and experience. As a Senior Deputy Sheriff, you are eligible to apply to be part of one of our specialized units.
