Emergency Communications Officer — 911 Emergency Dispatcher

Essential Functions:

  • Dispatch serves as the primary point of phone and radio contact for citizens requiring emergency law, fire, medical services and/or other assistance.
  • Duties include but are not limited to answering incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching responders, giving lifesaving instructions over the phone, operating computers and two-way radios.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be at least age 18, a U.S. Citizen, and meet other requirements associated with qualifying to work in law enforcement.
  • Other qualifications include: high school graduate or equivalent, able to work under stressful conditions, able to communicate effectively, must have good computer, typing (50 words per minute) and clerical skills and have experience working with the public.
  • Familiarity with county geography is preferred.
  • Applicant must be available all days and shifts.
  • The shifts are rotating and are made up of three -12 hour shifts and one – 4 hour shift per week.
