Detention Officer

Salary: $44,952.00 – $63,396.00 Annually

Essential Functions:

• Conducting intoxilyzer tests; searching and screening, supervising, preparing meals for, feeding, and releasing jail inmates; cleaning and handling maintenance of the jail; preparing and submitting daily activity reports; conducting daily searches of the jail facility; processing monies for bonds/fines; and attending court as needed.
• Duties will require ability to restrain and secure combative prisoners using verbal skills, hand control techniques and/or other accepted methods; attending mandatory training courses and maintaining all required certifications.

Requirements:

• Hours include two shifts covering a 24-hour period.
• A high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Class C Texas driver’s license and a good driving record are required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to be hired.
• Duties involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a polygraph exam, a psychological exam, and criminal history check.
• Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
