Deputy Sheriff
Salary: $31.53 – $38.53 Hourly.

As a Deputy Sheriff, you will respond to emergency calls for service, enforce the law, and conduct other duties of the Sheriff’s Department. Accuracy in report writing, effectively dealing with the public, and handling stressful situations calmly and effectively are daily tasks within this role. The chosen candidate will be trustworthy and capable of handling sensitive, confidential information in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies.
Essential Functions:
- Patrol areas of the County to preserve law and order, prevent and discover the commission of a crime, enforce motor vehicle and parking regulations, and correct traffic hazards.
- Answer calls and complaints received by radio, telephone, or in person involving emergency, disorder, and crime.
- Interview persons with complaints or inquiries, take statements and tend to the proper disposition of the information.
- Conduct preliminary investigations; preserve crime scene evidence.
- Conduct law enforcement-related community awareness and public relations work.
- Prepare reports for use of investigated disturbances, crimes, accidents, and traffic enforcement for the agency, court, and state use; testify in court as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, or equivalent; Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Correctional/Police Science or Bachelor’s Degree in related field is preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to effectively, efficiently, and entirely complete assignments.
- Communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise fashion.
- Work independently, as part of a team, and be supervised.
- Maintain confidentiality and good working relationships.
- Maintain regular and predictable work attendance.
