Deputy Sheriff
Essential Functions:
- Performs routine law enforcement duties and makes arrests per County Code.
- Receives docket writs, executions, summons, court notices, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
- Serves bench, magistrates and arrest warrants; writs, executions, summons, court notices and subpoenas.
- Participates in Sheriff’s sales as necessary.
- Transports inmates from County, State and Federal Prisons, and various facilities throughout the state.
- Provides security for Judges, Courtroom and Courthouse offices.
- Monitors firearms sales within County and conducts criminal history checks for firearm sales; maintains files and records of same.
- Collects and disburses monies from judgments in civil proceedings to various plaintiffs and government bodies.
- Seizes and secures property until sale or disposition is received.
- Regulates and licenses persons dealing in precious metals.
- Assists local and state police in emergency situations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus some additional law enforcement training helpful.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and driving record check.
- Must possess Act 2 Deputy Sheriff’s Training and/or Act 120 Certified.
- Must maintain all certifications as required.
- Two years’ experience in law enforcement or related field preferred or, any acceptable combination of experience and training.
