Corrections Officer
Position Summary:
To perform care, custody and control of inmates in the County Jail.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts booking procedures of newly committed detainees.
- Maintains and secures inmates’ personal property. Maintains and documents accurate headcounts.
- Directs and monitors movement of inmates.
- Conducts searches on incoming inmates and prepares them for incarceration.
- Checks incoming mail, clothing and other items for contra band.
- Documents and maintains daily log of Jail activities.
- Observes inmate activities and observes any unusual behaviors or needs.
- Searches all areas of Jail for contraband.
- Issues clothing and housecleaning supplies.
- Supervises work detail.
- Interfaces with prisoners to determine their needs or problems.
- Patrols cell block areas and housing units.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, Criminal Background check and pre-employment physical/drug screening required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Some security experience helpful, but not required.
- All applicants must be 18 years of age prior to application.
