Corrections Officer
Salary: $21.79 – 24.50 per hour.
Position Summary:
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is seeking motivated individuals that are interested in a career in law enforcement. Selected candidates will be given on the job, paid training and experience in the corrections division working three to four (3-4) 12-hour shifts per week with every other weekend (Fri-Sun) off.
Essential Functions:
- Monitors the daily activities of inmates.
- Distributes meals, medication, personal, and other items to inmates.
- Patrols cell blocks in order to ensure to the security, health, and welfare of inmates.
- Communicates with inmates during the booking process.
- Search, fingerprint, obtain DNA, and photograph inmates during intake.
- Prepare and maintain records related to inmate health, booking, and incidents.
- Receives and responds to inquiries from government agencies, courts, and the general public.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable timely attendance.
- Maintain required licensure and certification.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency (GED).
- No felony convictions.
- Pass drug screen and background check.
- Pass CVSA (lie detector) test.
- Possess State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license.
