Corrections Officer
Salary: $20.13-$21.13 per hour
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of a Corrections Sergeant, books inmates into jail and arrange for discharge, transporting inmates as needed and the proper cleaning of the Sheriff’s Department.
Essential Functions:
- Assumes responsibility for inmate health and safety.
- Conducts booking and discharge procedures.
- Transports inmates to court and other facilities.
- Answers incoming telephone inquiries.
- Performs jail security checks.
- Supervised inmate activities.
- Assists with medication dispersal.
- Supervises inmate visitation.
- Provides court room security as needed.
- Serves warrants and civil papers as needed.
- Assists with food preparation and disbursal to inmate population.
- Performs general janitorial services to Sheriff’s Department.
- Performs intoxilyzer tests on Driving Under the Influence classification arrests.
- Correctly complete a task in a timely manner.
- Completely and factually document information and data without duplication.
- Possess and maintain the physical ability necessary to complete the essential duties of the position.
- Maintain an acceptable level of availability for work to include rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-in for emergency situations.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age at the time of hire
- US Citizen
- No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
- High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Ability to secure and maintain required certifications to include bi-annual cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training and intoxilyzer 5000 training and be qualified with handguns.
