Corrections Deputy

Salary: $30.16 to $47.16 per hour.

Essential Functions:

  • Corrections Deputies are responsible for the safety and security of the community, staff, and inmates, by way of safe and humane incarceration of pre-trial and post-conviction inmates.
  • Duties include the transportation of inmates to court hearings, medical appointments, and extradition of inmates to other agencies, as well as meal service, medication distribution, and supervision of daily activities.
  • Corrections deputies have direct contact with inmates and are expected to enforce facility rules and regulations. Interpersonal communication and situational awareness are required skills when interacting with inmates. In addition, corrections deputies interact with other agencies, departments, organizations, and the public, and are expected to maintain and develop these professional relationships.
  • Corrections deputies are required to have computer and data entry skills, obtain and maintain certain certifications, and routinely qualify with use of a firearm.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age,
  • US citizen,
  • Possess a high school diploma/GED,
  • Possess a valid Washington driver’s license,
  • Ability to read/write/speak the English language,
  • No felony convictions, no misdemeanor domestic violence convictions.
